Thanksgiving Recipe

29 November, 20200 Comments

Friends,

I hope you had an incredible Thanksgiving. This year has been so different, but my wish is that you have found some form of normalcy in celebrating.

My host family had a giant party last year, complete with two whole turkeys and ten pies. I remember not being able to count the number of family members they invited. Everyone was so happy.

This year, there were a total of 12 of us at our party. It was very different.

We still managed to have a great time, and found so much

Learning how to drive

17 November, 20200 Comments

I’m sure you’ve heard by now: Holiday Extravaganza will be taking place at the M1 Concourse this year as a drive-thru event!!

It’s very exciting news, and LuLu and I are absolutely going crazy not being able to share with you all the fun surprises the Holiday Extravaganza team is brewing.

For example, you know the floats will be stationary this year. You know you’ll get to see the best costume characters. You also know Santa and his reindeer will be making a special social distanced trip to

Trying Ice Cream

03 November, 20200 Comments

In the North Pole, us elves like to eat a lot of different cold snacks. But LuLu and I have never tried ice cream.

I know! It’s crazy! A sugary dessert that an elf hasn’t tried.

My first flavor choice was vanilla, but I added all of my favorite candies and sauces on top. We put sprinkles, gummy worms, hot fudge, hot caramel, cherries, m&m’s and even added whipped cream.

Wow! I was so impressed with the deliciousness that I went back for seconds. This time, I took the moose tracks

Rooftop Reindeer

22 October, 20200 Comments

I have a secret.

Michigan has it’s very own North Pole – and it’s called Rooftop Landing Reindeer Farm.

This family owned and operated business is the perfect place to go when you want to pretend it’s below freezing and snowing while surrounded by Santa’s most faithful companions.

Friends, living so far away from home is so hard. It is rewarding to help plan the holiday event of the season, but not seeing my reindeer or elf friends for 5

The Reason it Snows

26 August, 20200 Comments

Hi friends,

I come to you today completely outraged.

This morning I overheard LuLu having a conversation with some of the neighbor children and they are under the impression Santa cannot fly his sleigh without snow!

Please always remember: The reason Santa is able to fly his sleigh is a combination between the magic the reindeer have and the holiday spirit in the world.

Repeat after me: Santa does not need snow to fly.

In fact, many of the places he visits

Traditional Clothing

19 August, 20200 Comments

Let’s talk about clothes – more specifically, traditional clothing.

My elf ancestors traditionally wear very bright colors. If they are caught out in a snow storm they needed to make sure their friends and family could find them. Our favorite colors to wear are green and red.

The bright colored clothing is usually double insulated with animal hide to keep us warm during those impossibly cold (but very enjoyable) months.

Since coming to Michigan during these summer months, Lulu and I

Why I love the snow

12 August, 20200 Comments

Most people do not understand how I could love the cold as much as I do.

They say, “BinG, all of that cold is just no fun. You can’t do anything and walk around shivering.”

But I disagree, there are plenty of activities like cross-country and downhill skiing, snowboarding, sledding, building snowmen (women and children), snowball fights, carriage rides…my list could go on forever.

Consider Volunteering

05 August, 20200 Comments

If you’ve ever been to Holiday Extravaganza before, you know just how many things are going on at one time.

Before the parade kicks off, we have the WinterFUN festival where children, adults and families alike can take part in free activities like carriage rides, petting zoos, coloring pages, art projects and food.

Then the parade itself is always bigger and better than the year before. We have professional floats, dance teams, marching bands, costume characters and more.

What you might
