World Holidays #2

Hi friends ~

Two weeks ago I told you about a few of the holidays that are celebrated in December around the time of Holiday Extravaganza.

This week I will tell you a few more.

People who are Christian usually celebrate Christmas.

This holiday is recognized as the birthday of Jesus. Most who celebrate get a tree, usually pine of some sort, and decorate it with lights and ornaments. On Christmas Eve, Santa comes and leaves a few presents beneath it.

The meaning of Christmas is giving, as God gave his only son to us. And of course, celebrating His arrival 🙂

Kwanzaa is a holiday celebrated in recognition of the African harvest festivals and is usually celebrated by African-Americans in the United States.

Kwanzaa means “First Fruits” and “celebrates ideals such as family life and unity.”

It is celebrated by ceremonies throughout the week. Many decorate their home in traditional African art and with the colors of green, black, and red.

There are seven candles that get lit throughout the week long celebration. Each candle represents a different principle.

The seven principles are: Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith. These are some good principles to live by if you ask me.

At HOLIDAY Extravaganza we hope people who celebrate any holiday or no holiday at all show up for some free fun 🙂

If I didn’t mention your holiday, be sure to send me a message and tell me about your traditions. I love learning, especially when it’s about you guys…my friends 🙂

Hehe,

Until next week
