Fran Anderson Making A Difference Scholarship
The late Fran Anderson was an inspirational woman who epitomized the phrase, “Making a Difference.” She was an outstanding teacher in the Pontiac School District and an extraordinary volunteer and advocate for numerous civic and community organizations, including Holiday Extravaganza, on whose Board of Directors she served with distinction.
Because of her outstanding role and commitment to making a difference, those interested in applying for the scholarship must write an essay of 500 words about how they have made a difference in their local community. They must reside in either the City of Auburn Hills, the City of Pontiac, Waterford Township or White Lake Township. And they must be available for the Holiday Extravaganza event, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 7th.
Winners will be expected to attend a special award ceremony at the 50th District Court the morning of the parade at 9:00 a.m. where a continential breakfast will be provided. After, at around 10:45 a.m., they will get on a bus that will drop them at the ribbon cutting for the parade.
Four students, one from each of the qualifying cities / townships, will be awarded a $1,000 Fran Anderson Making a Difference scholarship this holiday season.
Applications are due to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, Oct. 14, 2019 and will be reviewed by officials from the respective city the student resides in.
