Radio Disney's Rockin' Recess


1. Sponsors: The Greater Pontiac Host Committee (hereinafter referred to as sponsor)

2. Eligibility: Essay contest is for public elementary schools within the communities of Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Waterford and White Lake. Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for Sponsor, any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the contest/sweepstakes or supplying the prize, and their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or win. "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses. "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year. In the event that a child is young and needs assistance in participating, parental or guardian assistance is permitted in physically writing the essay, but nothing more.

3. How to enter: Simply write an essay not more than 250 words describing your favorite holiday memory. Once your essay is completed, turn your essay in to your teacher by November 13, 2009. No purchase is necessary. A winning essay will be selected at each participating school by that schools principal. Sponsor is not responsible for teacher and principal processing and execution of essay delivery. Sponsor is not responsible for failed, partial or garbled computer transmissions, or for technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to electronic malfunction or damage of any network, hardware or software. If for any reason the contest/sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or other causes that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the contest/sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest/sweepstakes. No responsibility is assumed for: any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; or any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, or software; or failure of any e-mail or electronic entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at anyWeb-site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials from this contest/sweepstakes. In the event of a dispute over an electronic entry, prize will be awarded to the owner of the e-mail account, not the name on the entry form. Entries remain the property of Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged.

4. Winners odds and notification: The number of winners will depend on the number of participating schools and will be announced by the school principals and via AM 910 Radio Disney and the Oakland Press. Odds of winning depend on number of valid entries. Many will enter, few or sometimes only one, will win. Interested parties may obtain a copy of these rules by sending a request and a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to the Greater Pontiac Host Committee/Holiday Extravaganza c/o Linda Zabik 2525 Telegraph Road Bloomfield Hills, Mi 48302

5. Prizes: Sponsor will award the following prizes: The school with the highest percentage of students that participate in the contest will be the host of an AM 910 Radio Disney Rockin’ Recess at that school. The winner will be selected by information provided by the school principals and the community liaisons from the sponsor committee working with the schools. Sponsor is not responsible for inaccurate information provided by any of the listed parties. In the event of a tie, the winning school will be selected randomly. A pizza party will be awarded for the writer of the winning essay at each participating school. A winning essay from each school will be selected by that schools principal and faxed to the sponsor by 11/10/08. Sponsor not responsible for any entries not turned in by contest deadlines. Out of all of the entries submitted by participating schools, one essay will be chosen randomly and will be the winning essay. The winning essay writer will win a NintendoWii, A Disney Sing It game for theWii system, the chance to be featured on AM 910 Radio Disney in promotional announcements and the chance to be featured in the Oakland Press as well as the chance to ride on a float in the Holiday Extravaganza Parade on 12/06/08.Unless otherwise specified, all prizes or prize certificates will be given to contest winner at the Holiday Extravaganza Parade ceremonies on 12/06/08. Any prize or prize certificates not claimed from Sponsor within forty-five (45) days of 12/06/08 will be forfeited by the winner. In the event a prize is to be mailed, winner assumes the risk of safe arrival of prize or prize package. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, mutilated or misdirected mail, or unsafe arrival of a prize, prize certificates or prize package. Some restrictions and limitations may apply. All expenses not specifically described herein are the winner's sole responsibilities. Federal, state and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibilities of the winner, who will receive an IRS Form 1099 reflecting the final actual value of any prize valued at $600 or more. Winners are not entitled to exchange or transfer prizes or to obtain cash or other substitutes, but Sponsor in its sole discretion may substitute prizes of equal or greater value. If won by a minor, prize will generally be awarded in parent's or guardian's name.

6. Releases: By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the contest/sweepstakes Sponsor/judges/administrators, which shall be final in all respects. By participating in this contest/sweepstakes and/or accepting any prize that they may win, entrants agree to release Sponsor, their parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives and assigns (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, directly or indirectly, from participation in this contest/sweepstakes and/or acceptance or use of the prize. Entrants authorize the Released Parties to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in programming or promotional material, in any media now known or hereafter created, worldwide in perpetuity, or on a winner's list, if applicable, without further compensation. Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above mentioned information or materials, but may do so and may edit such information or materials at Sponsor's sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation. To claim a prize, winner and/or winner's parent or guardian must: (a) provide proof of winner's age, residency, and legal status; (b) sign and return eligibility, publicity, liability and any other releases requested by Sponsor; and (c) have winner's intended guest(s) or travel companion(s), if any, sign and return releases requested by Sponsor; all within the time period(s) specified by Sponsor.

7. Miscellaneous: Void where prohibited. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to cancel, terminate, modify and/or suspend the contest in the event of tampering or other circumstances, including but not limited to acts of God or civil disturbance that render it impractical or impossible to complete or fulfill the contest/sweepstakes as originally planned. The Greater Pontiac Host Committee reserves the right to make changes in these rules. Any such changes will become effective upon notice via on air announcement, online posting at www.holidayextravaganza.org or other means of wide dissemination.
